Batlhalefi Holdings regards Human Resource Management (also referred to as HR or HRM) as the management of human resources – the people who constitute the life-blood of any business. It is a necessary business function configured to enhance employee performance - in order to ensure a collective achievement of the business strategic objectives.
The South African Board of People Practice (SABPP) defines HRM as –
The process of hiring and developing employees so that they become more valuable to the organization. Human Resource Management includes conducting job analyses, planning personnel needs, recruiting the right people for the job, orienting and training, managing wages and salaries, providing benefits and incentives, evaluating performance, resolving disputes, and communicating with all employees at all levels. Examples of core qualities of HR management are extensive knowledge of the industry, leadership, and effective negotiation skills. Formerly called personnel management.
SABPP has thrust the HR profession in South Africa onto the global stage by establishing a National HRM System Model and Standard – a world first.
Batlhalefi Holdings subscribes to the thirteen elements / practice areas that collectively make up the HR Management System Model.
Batlhalefi Holdings regards the construction industry as a potentially significant contributor to employment and economic growth in South Africa. A welcome development for the industry is Government’s infrastructure plan, aligned to the National Development Plan, which aims to address South Africa’s infrastructure needs over the medium to long term.
Batlhalefi Holdings sees itself leveraging its relationship with a number of its partners to take advantage of and maximize its footprint on account of the current industry landscape.
Batlhalefi Holdings subscribes to the South African Facilities Management definition of Facilities Management as “… an enabler of sustainable enterprise performance through the whole life management of productive workplaces and effective business support services.” At a simple level facilities management has to do with the integration of the work environment and support services so to enable the achievement of business objectives..
