The South African Board of People Practice (SABPP) defines HRM as –

Examples of core qualities of HR management are extensive knowledge of the industry, leadership, and effective negotiation skills. Formerly called personnel management.

SABPP has thrust the HR profession in South Africa onto the global stage by establishing a National HRM System Model and Standard – a world first.
